What Should a Typical Roof Replacement Timeline Look Like?

Roof replacement can be divided broadly into three stages: the pre-installation, installation, and post-installation phases. Specific tasks and processes are involved at each stage of this type of roofing project. And by having an idea of what goes on during each step, you can better manage your expectations and have a better grasp of how long your roofing contractors finish the job. Read on to get a sneak peek of what you can expect from a typical roof replacement timeline.

Before Installation

Before the installation of the new roof begins, you can expect your contractor to take a few steps that will prepare the work site for the project. For instance, your new shingles should arrive at your home before the first day of the project. So make sure you have a secure place where you can store them for the meantime. A dumpster may also be delivered to your home. Your contractor will use this to collect any waste from the job.

During Installation

Roof inspection should have been done during your consultations with your contractor. So that on the day the roofers start their work, they have a good idea of what to expect from your roofing and how to go about the entire process. This goes without saying that they should have already planned the tasks to ensure efficiency and safety throughout the project.

Nevertheless, make sure that you’re not being too rigid with the timeline. Some delays will be inevitable or beyond anyone’s control. And during such circumstances, you should try to be flexible. Just continue communicating with your contractor so that you are aware of any changes or delays in your project.

On the last day of the project, you can expect to have a final walk-through with your contractor. This is your chance to do a quality check, raise concerns and ask questions.

After Installation

The dumpster, along with all the construction waste, will be collected from your home. A representative of your roofing contractor may also visit you for any final payments or customer care services.
